Druann Woodward Receives the 2012 Cleo Curtis Award

Dru Receives Cleo Curtis Award

The 2012 recipient of the prestigious Cleo Curtis Award was Dru Woodward.

This person was introduced to the world of ceramics by her grandmother - and from that day she was hooked.....

Moving from the mid-west to the West coast in 1981 she became a Duncan Certified Teacher, other certifications followed including the prestigous Ceramic Arts Institute (CAI)

While in California she joined the Southern Stars Chapter and for 10 years was President. During this time she established many of the Chapter's educational programmes including the Laughlin Retreat and Spring Fling. In 1995 She was elected to the IADCCT Board holding the positions of Secretary, Vice President and continued in the office of President for two full terms.

She has a long list of "firsts" - instrumental in the creation of the IADCCT website: she was responsible for the annual IADCCT Award and the Rosemary Bodenheimer Award. She was the one responsible in instigating the starting of two Chapters in Florida.

A member of more than one Chapter she is always searching to broaden her ceramic education. Her personal attributes read as follows - Determination: Kindness: always ready to lend a hand, whether it is is to do with ceramic projects or personal issues, she will always give you her time. Loyalty: and a devotion to Ceramics and all that it encompasses. Also there is never a dull moment when she is around....I could say she was shy and retiring, but I would be lying!

I am sure you have already a good idea who this applies to, but it is my pleasure to introduce a worthy recipiant of the Award for 2012 - Dru Woodward
