Louise Dickson Receives the 2018 Cleo Curtis Award

Louise Dickson became certified and joined NADCT (National Association of Duncan Certified Teachers) now IADCCT in 1973.

It was that same year that the Arizona Chapter was organized, which was prior to when Chapters could be, therefore the official name became Saguaro chapter upon official organization and she became a Charter Member.

Louise worked for IngaLee’s Ceramic Shop for several years. The Shop was located in Phoenix, with Louise living in the East Valley. She continued her ceramic education through classes sponsored by Duncan Ceramics and Marjon Ceramics. She soon opened her own home studio.

She was/is involved in Saguaro Chapter events and contributes to the Crisis Nursery making blankets and hats for the babies, is involved in the Ben’s Bells Program volunteering in making the components for the bells which are assembled to hang to remind people to be kind, and in the Empty Bowls Program, making bowls which are sold and the money going to feed the homeless.

When the Annual Meeting and Convention moved to Las Vegas in 1976, she attended, only missing one year through to now.

After being a member for 25 years, the Quarter Century Club was formed and she immediately volunteered to be the historian. She has kept the scrapbooks, four now in all, which includes a page or more with pictures furnished from each member. She also included pictures of the yearly dinner of the Club following convention.

I believe you can understand why this special person, LOUISE DICKSON, is worthy of the Cleo Curtis Award. She is a kind and caring, sharing, and supportive person. A quiet person with many, many wonderful qualities. You can see by her support of IADCCT over these 45 years, the support of the Saguaro Chapter over these 45 years, her dedication in attending the annual meeting and convention, she is so deserving.
